Origin / Breeder : Golden Leaf Farm ??

Plant type: rosette with oval leaves Plant color: greenish-red, red color of young leaves Additional: suitable for beginners, additional fertilization is recommended, medium lighting, strong lighting Description: Echinodorus 'Red Spider' is still a rather rare Echinodorus. Its origin is not entirely clear. According to some sources, Echinodorus 'Red Spider' is one of the hybrids bred in Indonesia. Its breeder is Mr. Okie Tanujaya. Incidentally, he is also the originator of hybrids such as Echinodorus Oki Bright Star, Echinodorus Oki Fancy Twist etc. Echinodorus 'Red Spider' is a beautiful, not very large (up to 22 - 25 cm) Echinodorus. Does not bear many leaves, the rosette is compact. Young leaves are really very bright, purple-red. Then they turn dark green. On young leaves a network of veins is clearly visible, on young leaves veins in the same color as the plate, on old leaves the veins lighten. The leaves have a short petiole. No special requirements are placed on the keeping conditions. The color of the leaves only appears brighter under more intensive lighting. In appearance, Echinodorus 'Red Spider' bears a certain resemblance to Echinodorus 'Red Special'. But this is a misleading impression. Echinodorus 'Red Special' is much larger, has no vein pattern on the leaf, the leaf is denser, the petiole is practically absent, the rosette is spreading. Echinodorus 'Red Spider' looks lighter, more compact, more elegant.[1]
