Echinodorus aschersonianus is distributed from Argentina to southern Brazil. This is a very interesting plant with spear-shaped leaves with a small heart-shaped notch at the base. The color of the leaf blade is light or dark green, the veins are darker in color. The leaf has 3 - 7 veins, there are no translucent patterns. The height of the shrub is about 15 - 20 cm Echinodorus is suitable for growing in a small aquarium. Place it in the foreground, as it forms a dense, beautiful rosette of leaves. It grows evenly under water all year round. The optimal water temperature for Echinodorus Asherson is 24 - 28 ° C. This Echinodorus species tolerates very soft water and grows well in a slightly acidic environment. In hard water with alkaline reaction, the growth of Echinodorus is rarely satisfactory. Water must be changed weekly by 1/6 - 1/5 of the aquarium volume. Echinodorus Asherson does not require strong lighting, on the contrary, an excess of light "pushes" the bush to the bottom. With moderate light, the leaves are erect and longer. Lighting should be overhead, side light leads to deformation of the bush. LB type fluorescent lamps can be used as artificial light sources.Daylight hours are usually about 12 hours. The soil must be nutritious and contain a lot of silt. It is very useful to add clay and charcoal, no matter what soil the plant is planted, old or new. The nature of the soil does not matter much, the thickness of the layer is about 5 cm, it is not necessary to add mineral fertilizers to the aquarium water. As a rule, the plant has enough nutrients in the soil. Under artificial conditions the plant reproduces vegetatively. In the aquarium it forms rare flower shoots, on which 1 - 2 daughter plants appear. More productive reproduction is observed in a humid greenhouse, where the plant produces significantly more daughter plants. It is not possible to obtain full-sized seeds, so seed reproduction of a plant in artificial conditions is practically not found.[1].
