One of the smallest broad-leaved Echinodorus. The plant looks very attractive in the aquarium. It forms a dense rosette of heart-shaped green leaves covered with small brown spots. The diameter of the whole plant usually does not exceed 20-25 cm and its height is not more than 10-15 cm. The leaves are broad, ovate, have a heart-shaped base and gradually taper at the tip. The end of the leaf blade is sharpened (angle 60 °), the base in adult leaves with a small heart-shaped notch, young leaves - without notch. Leaves up to 5 cm wide, 12 cm long. Submerged leaves are often tightly twisted. Its leaves are covered with numerous red-brown spots, apparently on young leaves. Easily distinguishable 5 main veins on upper side of leaf blade slightly lighter than leaf color, clearly palpable on reverse side; transverse veins smaller and less visible. Grows well under water throughout the year and reproduces. Leaves are slightly longer than petioles, which are often invisible.
